Emergency helicopter carrying person makes emergency landing on middle school baseball field in SW Houston

A Life Flight helicopter that was carrying a patient had to make an emergency landing onto a middle school baseball diamond in southwest Houston Friday night.

Houston Fire Department sources confirmed that the chopper had to land at the field at Meyerland Middle School because of a mechanical issue. The incident was reported at 8:19 p.m. There were three staff members and one patient on board at the time of the landing.

The patient was quickly handed off to paramedics on the ground and taken to a nearby hospital. Before the landing, the helicopter was planning to travel from Richmond to the Medical Center.
