Bus carrying Texas City football team crashes on way to game; three victims taken to hospital

TEXAS CITY – A bus carrying Texas City football players to a game Friday night crashed near the Tanger Outlets on I-45 in Galveston County.

Family members of two players told to KPRC 2 that players had been taken to the hospital.

Officials with Texas City Police Department confirmed that the bus was one of four busses on the way to the football game. The vehicle was carrying a couple of football players, ball boys, trainers and coaches.

Three injuries were confirmed, two of which were considered minor, while the third—a head laceration—was classified as major. All three victims were taken to a nearby hospital.

Texas City was scheduled to play Terry High School in Rosenberg tonight at 7 p.m. The game started without incident.
