Black Heritage Day at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo celebrates culture, entertainment and education

HOUSTON – On Friday, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo will honor Black Heritage and its contributions to the western, rodeo culture.

Black Heritage Day kicks off at 10 a.m. and is expected to be a day full of entertainment and education.

From morning until night, attendees will be treated to many activities that showcase Black culture’s richness and diversity.

Live entertainment takes center stage with a Western-themed talent showcase featuring elementary, middle, and high school fine arts groups. After that, those down at NRG Park are invited to hear the sounds of the Jack Yate High School’s drumline.

Then, rapper 50 Cent will hit the stage for the Black Heritage Day grand finale.

In addition to the main stage performances, special entertainment awaits at the Champion Wine Garden and The Hideout, offering unique experiences for attendees to unwind and enjoy the festivities.

Black Heritage Day list of events, presented by Kroger:

10 a.m.

· International Brahman Show - Bulls: NRG Center - Main Arena

6 p.m.

· Hard Dog, Fast Dog Competition – K9′s4Cops: NRG Center - Main Arena

9 a.m. - 2 p.m.

· Talent Showcase featuring elementary, middle and high school fine arts groups performing a Western themed show: The Junction

Starting at 6:45 p.m.

· National Anthem in the Stadium sung by Devyn Kelly

· Super Series 2, Round 1, followed by 50 Cent in concert: NRG Stadium

· Drumline performance by Jack Yate High School prior to the concert in the Stadium
