Man wanted on several felony warrants arrested after barricading himself in southwest Houston home

HOUSTON – A suspect wanted for five felony warrants was taken into custody after he barricaded himself inside a southwest Houston home for hours on Wednesday, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Members of the Violent Persons Task Force went to the home located on Carew Street, near Beechnut Street to arrest Joseph Catarineau around 11 a.m.

Authorities asked him to come out, but he refused to do this.

Task force members then called for the SWAT team to enter the home safely.

SWAT officials later arrived, and they breached the door of the home and entered.

Catarineau was found inside. He cooperated with law enforcement and was arrested.

No injuries were reported, and he has been taken to the Harris County Jail.

According to court records, Catarineau has five warrants, all issued on Feb. 12.

Court documents indicate on Dec. 14, Catarineau attacked a bailiff, judge and prosecutor.

He bonded out of jail on those charges and a fraud charge in May 2022.

The five warrants are for assaulting a judge, assaulting a police officer, assaulting a public servants and for fraud and finance charges.

Catarineau was scheduled for a court hearing on Feb. 9. According to court records, he did not appear, therefore the arrest warrant was issued.
