HOUSTON – A man has been arrested and charged in connection to a deadly shooting during a carjacking in southeast Houston last month, according to the Houston Police Department.
The suspect, Jaylon Boston, 19, has been charged with capital murder. He was held at the Federal Detention Center as additional federal charges related to this case are pending.
On Sept. 27, police responded to reports of a shooting at a convenience store located at 6524 Weston Street around 11:45 p.m.
Authorities said when they arrived, they learned that 37-year-old Yogesh Sharma was shot at a convenience store after he had closed the business for the night. Sharma was attempting to get into his vehicle when he was confronted and shot more than once by Boston, who then took Sharma’s vehicle and fled the scene.
Sharma was pronounced dead by the Houston Fire Department paramedics.
Police said the victim’s vehicle, a gray 2012 Toyota Camry, was found abandoned the following day.

The following day, acting on a tip, members of the HPD Gang Division and ATF Crime Gun Strike Force arrested Boston without incident.
Detectives have identified and are communicating with the woman on the surveillance video with Boston. She has not been charged at this time, pending questioning and further investigation.
