2 dead, 2 injured in crash outside fast-food restaurant in La Marque

LA MARQUE, Texas – La Marque police say speeding on a rain-slick road led to a crash that killed two people Saturday afternoon.

It happened around 4:30 at the Jack in the Box on FM 1765.

Sgt. Richard Hernandez said the driver of a pick-up truck and a passenger died at the scene.

Witnesses told police the truck was traveling eastbound on FM 1765 at a high rate of speed.

Police said the truck lost control around a curve, side-swiped another car, crossed over the median, and flipped over into the restaurant’s parking lot.

“At this point, we have two deceased, and we have two other individuals who were struck by the vehicle that flipped over. They were parked in the drive-through of the Jack in the Box parking lot. They had non-life-threatening injuries and were taken as a precautionary measure to the hospital. At this point, it’s an ongoing investigation,” Sgt. Hernandez said.

Police have not released the names of the driver and passenger who were killed.
