SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio – What should have been a routine traffic stop for police in Ohio took a strange turn.
The Springfield Township Police Department said it all happened at around 7:15 p.m. Monday when an officer pulled over a vehicle which was registered to a person with an active warrant and a suspended driver’s license.

The 55-year-old woman, identified as Victoria Vidal, was detained without incident.
However, things took a strange turn when the officer returned to the vehicle. When the officer got back to the vehicle, he saw a raccoon named “Chewy” sitting in the driver’s seat with a meth pipe in its mouth.
This alarmed officers and led to a more in-depth search of the vehicle. In the search, officers found methamphetamine, crack cocaine, and three used glass meth pipes.
Thankfully, Chewy the Raccoon was unharmed. Notification was made to the proper authorities to determine whether the woman has the proper paperwork and documentation to own the raccoon.
“While our officers are trained to expect the unexpected, finding a raccoon holding a meth pipe is a first! No raccoons were hurt or injured in this incident,” the Springfield Township Police Department said.
