HOUSTON – Houston residents woke up to a frosty surprise as snow started falling across parts of the city, a rare occurrence for a region known more for its heat than its winter weather.

Reports came in from places like Katy, Conroe, Cypress, Bush Intercontinental Airport, Humble, and Kingwood among others.

KPRC 2 crews were at Bush Intercontinental Airport just before 10 p.m. Monday evening when snow began to come down.

As the night goes on, the snow only got heavier for many areas across Southeast Texas.

Off the Southwest Freeway, someone was spotted snow skiing on the highway near the Newcastle Drive exit.

All in all, you could say it was an epic snow day for the Houston area and Southeast Texas.
