HOUSTON – On Nov. 5, 2024, voters in Alief Independent School District cast their ballots to either approve or reject Proposition A.
The tax rate proposition aims to generate funds to potentially address budgetary shortfalls caused by rising costs for staff, healthcare, fuel, and utilities.
If approved, the district will receive $11.3 million more in local funding annually and $4.1 million more in state funding annually to be used for staff salaries and daily operations.
If rejected, the district will not receive the additional $15.4 million in funding annually, which would adjust the 2024-25 budget to a net $6.2 million deficit.
Polls were open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day.
