HOUSTONHouston’s airports are leaning into new technology to help make sure women never run out of tampons and pads in airport restrooms.

Bush Intercontinental and Hobby have both been providing free feminine products for more than 10 years in their bathrooms, but they didn’t have a consistent way to monitor or always know when they needed to be refilled. The tampons and pads were kept in baskets inside the restrooms.

Now they’re the first airports in the country to offer free feminine products out of a vending machine. Houston Airports partnered with Aunt Flow, a woman-owned company that makes the patented vending machine and TRAX Analytics, a company that monitors and refills supplies in real time.

“Together, we are setting a precedent for airports around the world to prioritize the well-being of their menstruating guests,” said Claire Coder, Founder and CEO of Aunt Flow.

The new technology is also predictive and can tell what parts of the day or night will have the greatest demand.

“We’re prioritizing the needs of our guests, ensuring they have convenient access to essential amenities whenever they need them, making their travel experience smoother and more comfortable,” said Lillana Rambo, Chief Terminal Officer for Houston Airports.
