KATY, Texas – School may be out, but Katy ISD is keeping the ovens on and the community fed this summer and they’re serving up more than just meals. Starting May 27, the Katy ISD Summer Food Program launches with free meals for all children 18 and under, no enrollment required.
This community driven initiative helps ensure that every child stays energized, nourished, and ready for summer fun completely free of charge.

What’s on the menu?
Free breakfasts and lunches will be served Monday through Thursday at select campuses across the district. There are no strings attached, no ID, sign-up, or paperwork needed. Whether kids are catching up on summer reading, hitting the splash pad, or soaking up the Texas sun, one thing is certain: hungry bellies don’t belong during summer break.

Meals that matter
“Our Summer Food Service is always popular with the community, and it is our pleasure to provide this service to families,” said Donna Pittenger, executive director of Nutrition and Food Services.
While the food is free, there is one small request: all meals must be eaten inside the school’s cafeteria.
Whether families are in Katy for a staycation or just need a meal while school’s out, Katy ISD’s Summer Food Program is cooking up something for the community as well as supporting families.
