Another spectacular fall day graces Houston with comfortable temperatures and low humidity, but the weather team is on high alert, tracking poor air quality, allergies and elevated fire dangers.
Houston enjoys another splendid day with low humidity, much like yesterday, but enjoy it while it lasts because the humidity returns on Friday.
We’re also watching and tracking allergies, so if you suffer from poor air quality, the next few days could still be challenging, despite the beautiful weather outside.
If you suffer from allergies or respiratory issues, poor air quality coupled with either condition could make symptoms worse.
Fire Risk
As we move toward October, there might be a slight uptick in dew point temperatures as some coastal moisture builds in, leading to the chance of a few hit-and-miss showers late next week. For now, though, most days should remain dry with highs sitting in the upper 80s and low 90s putting us at a higher fire risk.
Tropical outlook:
1. Hurricane Humberto: Sustained winds of 140 mph, moving at 14 mph, located 375 miles SSW of Bermuda. Expect tropical-storm-force winds to impact Bermuda by late Tuesday, along with dangerous rip currents affecting the northern Caribbean, Bahamas, and Bermuda. Humberto is steering Imelda eastward, away from the U.S. but we’re still keeping a close eye on our east coast states.
2. Tropical Storm Imelda: Sustained winds of 60 mph, moving at 9 mph, about 90 miles from the Bahamas. Tropical storm conditions are affecting the northwestern Bahamas today. Eastern Cuba and the Bahamas face risks of flash and urban flooding. High swells and dangerous surf are expected along the Florida and Georgia coasts today.
There are no tropical systems set to impact the Gulf Coast.
