Thursday Afternoon

Rain chances over the next week:

Any rain over the next few days is expected to be minimal—most of the area will likely see less than half an inch. Our next chance at seeing any widespread meaningful rainfall is next Monday night and Tuesday.

Heading toward the weekend, rain chances are expected to edge up a bit, continuing the trend of hit-or-miss storms during the hottest part of the day.

Tropical Storm Gabrielle:

Gabrielle formed at 10AM Wednesday, making it the seventh named storm of the 2025 season. It’s expected to become even stronger into a hurricane by the end of the weekend. Most long-range models have Gabrielle holding between Cat. 1 and Cat. 2 range and appear to eventually steer around the Bermuda high in the central Atlantic Ocean.

It is not looking like it will be a threat to the mainland US at this time, however the east coast will likely have a high rip current risk and elevated surf all week.

Tropical outlook:

A tropical wave in the eastern Atlantic is stirring up disorganized thunderstorms. It is moving behind newly formed TD SEVEN, which you can find details for below.

Your extended forecast:

Temperatures and dewpoints will be holding in a very summer-like pattern. Expect highs in the mid to low 90s and lows in the mid-70s. We’re still waiting on that first REAL fall front, which looks to be more than 10 days out ... for now. Fall officially begins next Monday, but the thermometer just isn’t reflecting it quite yet.

There’s also a notable milestone coming up: Rosh Hashanah and the autumnal equinox are just around the corner, but even as September wraps up, above-average temperatures are in the forecast. No strong shift into fall weather is expected at this time.
