Weekend Forecast:

The pattern of afternoon storms is expected to continue into Friday. Highs are expected to reach around 93 to 94 degrees.

By Saturday, rain chances drop back to typical values, around 30 to 40 percent, and the mid-90s heat stays in place for the weekend. Sunday and

Tracking Hurricane Erin:

Tropical storm warnings are currently in effect for coastal areas from the Carolinas all the way north to the Jersey Shore. A lot of that water is going to get pushed in. It could see upwards of a 2 to 4 foot storm surge when it’s all said and done.

The worst impacts are expected through today, with conditions improving and the storm weakening quickly as it moves out by the weekend.

While these warnings and surges are focused on the East Coast, Houston should still keep an eye on the overall tropical pattern across the region.

The tropical storm train continues in the Atlantic:

There is a 70 percent chance this system will strengthen into Tropical Storm Fernand in the next two days, but current models expect it to steer back toward Bermuda and stay out in the central Atlantic. Another system behind it carries a 40 percent chance of development and could head on a more southerly path toward the Windward Islands by next Tuesday.
