Tropical Downpours arrive Friday:
More rain Friday but this time we could see more downpours as tropical moisture moves into Texas. As a low-pressure system near the Gulf is still disorganized, will move into the Texas, Mexico border, the moisture reaching SE Texas.
Downpours start southwest of Harris county Friday morning, so expect a dry morning commute for most.
Friday afternoon storms approach Houston, bringing the risk for downpours. SE Texas gets a lull from rain chances Friday evening before storms return Saturday.
There is a low flood threat Friday as rain could dump around 2 inches with some thunderstorms.
Temperatures remain hot, so stay hydrated.

Saturday’s Forecast:
Saturday, possibly another round of tropical downpours affecting Texans game tailgates. Tailgating could be stormy at times, so have some rain gear if you’re setting up in the lots at NRG Stadium!
Tracking the tropics:
The 5th named storm has formed in the Atlantic, Tropical Storm Erin.
Erin is forecast to become a hurricane midweek and rapidly intensify over the weekend into a Category 3 hurricane, which would be our first hurricane of the season.
Right now, the model consensus is that the storm will take a northerly turn away from the Caribbean by the weekend.
Two things that will determine if the storm moves more east or northwest are the Bermuda High and an upper-level trough that will set up across the east coast of the United States.
If the trough is strong enough, the storm system will have a great chance to get pushed away from the East Coast. Erin is not expected to impact the Gulf Coast at this time.

Your extended forecast:
Rain chances drop back to 30 to 40 percent next week, keeping the forecast closer to seasonal norms. Watch for brief downpours and stay hydrated as feels-like temperatures will reach the triple digits.
