Isolated thunderstorms possible for some today (30% chance), with a higher likelihood of rain on Sunday (60%). We’re tracking typical August temperatures, but don’t be fooled—it’ll still feel scorching, with heat indices reaching up to 106 in some areas!

Tracking the tropics, tracking the Gulf:

The Atlantic is heating up! There are two areas of concern tracking in the Atlantic basin. Neither are expected to impact the Gulf coast over the next week.

Disturbance #1: We’re monitoring a tropical wave in the central Atlantic with diminishing thunderstorms and showers. Gradual development is possible over the next two days, but the chance remains low at 0%. Over the next 7 days, formation probability is 30%.

Disturbance #2:A tropical wave near the west coast of Africa is producing disorganized thunderstorms while moving at 15-20 mph across the eastern and central Atlantic. Formation chance is 0% for the next two days, rising to 30% over the next 7 days.
