The classic August heat isn’t letting up in Houston, and the trend is expected to stick around for a while.
Hot and Humid with Storms:
Houston hit it’s third 100 degree day earlier this afternoon. Now just one degree shy of tying with the record of 101 set in 2021.
As far as rain chances, it is hit or miss with a chance for evening showers and thunderstorms to develop from I-10 on south.
Thursday’s Forecast:
The typical August pattern continues, with upper 90s and low-end showers and storm chances mainly in the evening.
We will continue to see this pattern through Saturday before High pressure moves farther west, allowing for more disturbances to enter SE Texas next week.
Tracking the tropics, tracking the Gulf:
The Atlantic is heating up! There are now three areas of interest in the Atlantic basin. None are bringing impacts to the Gulf Coast.
Tropical Storm Dexter is the 4th named storm to form in the Atlantic. It will continue to move east away from the United States.
There is another disturbance off the coast of the Carolinas. It has a medium chance of developing in the next seven days, but it will create rough surf.
A tropical wave will move off the coast of Africa this week and has a 60% chance of developing into a storm over the next 7 days.

Your extended forecast:
Behind the rain comes more heat and humidity. As you’re planning your week, the heat remains the big story for Houston, with afternoon thunderstorms always a possibility, especially for those closer to the coast.
