A summer cool front (don’t get too excited, it’s still summer and this front won’t cool us down at all) is forecast to make its way into southeast Texas, bringing with it showers and thunderstorms over the next several days. This front isn’t the kind that sweeps in with cool, refreshing air—rather, it’s expected to stall across our area. That means more rounds of rain are likely, with some occasional storms firing up at times. Check out our current radar below.
Today’s Forecast:
A mostly cloudy afternoon as showers and thunderstorm chances loom across SE Texas. Chances are hit-or-miss, so don’t worry about a wash out. However, if we see a good downpour get see some localized street flooding.
The highest likelihood of seeing storms is between 1-6PM.
Weekend Forecast:
Heading into Saturday, the stalling front moves south closer to the coast. Because of its proximity and tapping into all that Gulf moisture.
Some of these storms could carry a chance for some heavier downpours by the weekend. SE Texas has a 1/4 flood threat, so watch for street flooding.
Storms likely do not fire off until after 1 pm for Houston with the best chance for storms between 5pm - 7 pm.
Tracking the tropics, tracking the Gulf:
There is no tropical development over the next 7 days.
However, we’re just now getting into the statistical uptick of the tropical season. In fact, we’re starting to see some indication that we’ll have more activity as we get into the month of August.

Your extended forecast:
The stormy pattern continues through Tuesday. Behind the rain comes more heat and humidity.
