Summer heat ramping up; tropical rains returning?

Summer heat pattern returns to Houston long term with weekend rain chances.

Summer heat returns

Weather Pattern Changing

Over the past month in Houston, we have been lucky to see temperatures mostly in the low 90s. Along with the lower temperatures, the daily chances of afternoon showers and thunderstorms kept many parts of the city cool. However, this week our weather pattern will start to change.

Highs could reach upper 90s with heat indices in the triple digits.

Summer Heat Returning

Going into this week, a high pressure is expected to begin building in our area. This will bring rain chances down and temperatures up. Of course, being in Houston, we also have to factor in humidity. So, while air temperatures will be in the upper 90s, high dew points could bring feels-like temperatures into the triple digits.

Weekend Tropical Trouble

Low pressure may move into the Gulf on Wednesday bringing weekend rain chances.

As we go into the weekend, we may begin to have a short break from the oppressive heat. Here’s why. A low pressure is expected to develop over the Atlantic as a cold front begins to stall. This low is expected to take a similar track as invest 93L did last week. After moving over Florida, this system could move into the Gulf. Now at the moment there is still a lot of uncertainty of where this system could go and how the high pressure could affect the track. Right now, the national hurricane center does not have this system marked. But as always, we will continue to update you on the heat and rain chances.
