Exceptional Drought Over South Texas

Since 2022, parts of South Texas have been in a deficit of over 40 inches.

However, within recent weeks, the city and surrounding areas have received plenty of beneficial rain, albeit sometimes too quickly.

Barry’s Remnants

Tropical Storm Barry made landfall in Eastern Mexico on Sunday, bringing winds of 45 mph and heavy rain. The storm dissipated Monday, but its remnants continue to bring rainfall to a large swath of South Texas.

How Much Rain?

General rain estimates over the next 24 hours are expected to be around 1 to 2 inches in deep South Texas, with about a tenth to a half inch of rain expected a bit farther north.
