HOUSTON – Flood Threat: Once again, some areas picked up multiple inches of rain on Friday, so any additional rain that we get (and we will get some), it could lead to more areas sitting under flash flood warnings quickly on Saturday or Sunday.
Expect scattered showers and thunderstorms with brief, heavy downpours again on Saturday. Most areas could see an additional 0.75 to 1 inch of rain, but intense downpours could bring more in a short time.
With soils already saturated, especially near the coast, the risk of flash flooding is elevated. The ground can’t absorb more water, and with rain expected not only today but throughout the week, water will pool on the surface, heightening flood concerns.
Saturated Ground Concerns: Southern areas, like Baytown and Pasadena, are waterlogged, leading to rapid runoff into streets, bayous, and low-lying areas.
Turn Around Don’t Drown: Avoid flooded roads. Just 6 inches of moving water can knock you off your feet, and 12 inches can stall or float a vehicle.

Weekend Weather:
Saturday the low moves away from us but the weakness in the atmosphere remains. So our weather will be driven more by the heating of the day, not an organized storm system.
Starting this weekend we’ll get more storms in the afternoon and they’ll be much more hit and miss.
