HOUSTON –
HOUSTON – Thankfully, we’re getting a brief break from the rain this evening, but more is expected tomorrow morning, impacting the morning commute with steady showers. An additional 0.25–0.5 inches of rain is possible.
We’ll also continue to track a flood watch for: Angleton, Pearland, Bay City, Palacios, Freeport, Surfside Beach, Edna, Lake Jackson, Alvin, Ganado, and Clute Counties now have a flood watch until tomorrow 7 pm.
Friday’s Forecast:
We’ll continue to track scattered showers and thunderstorms starting around your morning commute throughout the afternoon. For some, not all - so the storms won’t be as widespread as we experienced earlier this week. We’re tracking a .25-.50″ although some areas may get more if we have more downpours.
LIVE RADAR: Strong thunderstorms firing off, creating flash flood risk across SE Texas
8 a.m. updates:
SEND US YOUR CLICK2PINS: Thunderstorm drops quarter-size hail in The Woodlands
Friday’s Flash Flood Risk:
Saturated Ground Concerns: Southern areas, like Baytown and Pasadena, are waterlogged, leading to rapid runoff into streets, bayous, and low-lying areas.
Turn Around Don’t Drown: Avoid flooded roads. Just 6 inches of moving water can knock you off your feet, and 12 inches can stall or float a vehicle.
Weekend Weather:
Saturday the low moves away from us but the weakness in the atmosphere remains. So our weather will be driven more by the heating of the day, not an organized storm system. Starting this weekend we’ll get more storms in the afternoon and they’ll be much more hit and miss.
Tracking The Tropics
- Tropical Atlantic: No tropical cyclone activity expected in the next 7 days. The tropical wave train remains fairly quiet heading into the middle of June.
10 Day Forecast:
Temperatures will range from the upper 80s to mid-90s through next Saturday. We may head to a drier weather pattern at the end of next week.
