Memorial Day in Houston is hot and humid for all, stormy for some

Two waves of storms will move through Memorial Day but not everyone will see downpours

HOUSTON – Memorial Day rain and storms will come in waves.

The first wave impacting communities north of I-10 Monday morning through the afternoon. Most of the metro should remain rain free for the afternoon if you are heading out with your family.

Monday evening, into the night, and overnight, we are looking out for waves of showers and storms. Some of these could be strong to severe with lightning and damaging winds.

If you want to get away from some of the heat, the beach is a good bet, however, rip currents will be on the strong side all weekend, so be careful in the water! Remember, never fight the current! Swim parallel to shore. If you get caught in a rip, stay afloat and call for help.
