Humidity and heat risk see a welcome drop
HOUSTON – Thanks to drier air moving in, temperatures are expected to be in the low 90s today. KPRC’s meteorologist, Justin Stapleton, reports that the heat risk has decreased to a minor level, marking the first reduction in over a week.
With feels-like temperatures hovering around 93 or 94 degrees, it’s going to be more comfortable out there.
Rain and thunderstorms could make an afternoon appearance
There’s a chance of showers or thunderstorms developing this afternoon, particularly along the coast. Otherwise, most inland areas will stay dry and feel a little more manageable with lower humidity today.
Another weather system could bring more storms Thursday evening into early Friday morning. Despite these possibilities, overall weather patterns appear fairly quiet for the next couple of days.
Expect a rainy Memorial Day weekend
Looking ahead to the holiday weekend, rain chances are set to rise from Saturday into Monday. Saturday holds about a 20% chance, while Sunday sees this increase to 30%.
A stalling front could result in heavier rain by Monday, potentially delivering a couple of inches. This forecast also suggests cooler temperatures next week, with highs anticipated in the upper eighties.
