Houston Swelters: Hot, hazy and humid as we continue to track the chance for record-breaking temperatures.

No real relief is in sight as we’re seeing highs continue to climb to July-like numbers.

Today’s Forecast:

HOUSTON – We started your Saturday off with warm and humid morning -low in the 70s and 80s this weekend and we’ll continue to track above-average highs in the 90s. If we end up hitting 96, we’ll tie the record from of 96 in 2018. However, we are tracking hazy conditions today which cap our highs just a little bit. Either way, it’s hot, muggy and hazy this Saturday. A High pressure continues to dominate the Gulf, which will ensure that we’ll stay above average through the weekend.

Weekend Forecast for Galveston: We will track temperatures in the 80s this weekend with the chance for wind gusts up to 20 mph. We are watching and tracking a high RIP current risk for Matagorda Peninsula, Brazoria County beaches, Galveston Island and the Bolivar Peninsula. You’ll want to swim near a lifeguard and if you get caught in a rip current, relax and float.

High pressure will continue to move east into the Gulf, keeping temperatures above average and still blocking rain chances

A southerly flow will pull in moisture, increasing dew points and making it feel like 98-102 degrees through the weekend. Remember to take breaks to avoid heat exhaustion if you plan to be outside.

The above-average heat stretches into next week with no real chance of rain. Temperatures will challenge records and have Texans wishing it felt like May instead of July and August. However, there is starting to looking like we’ll see a slightly stronger cool front that will bring a little relief mid-week next week.
