The heatwave continues with potential for a little relief on the horizon

HOUSTON – With the weekend upon us, prepare for more heat as KPRC’s meteorologist Justin Staples brings you the latest weather insights. As temperatures soar around 95 degrees, it’s going to feel like the sizzling days this week are on repeat.

Heatwave in full swing

This weekend’s heat will mimic the past few days, topping off at approximately 95 degrees. We’ve experienced record-breaking highs three days straight, and while the weekend might ease off slightly by Sunday, hot weather is here to stay.

North Texas storms don’t make it to Houston

Although a front is approaching, it lacks the strength to bring cooler relief to southeast Texas. Instead, expect breezy conditions as high-pressure systems play their part. Storms are likely to develop along the I-20 corridor affecting areas like Dallas and Wichita Falls before lifting northward by Sunday.

For those in the southeast, storms might arrive late Tuesday into Wednesday, bringing a hopeful break from the heat with highs falling to around 90 degrees.

Keeping an eye on the tropics

As we inch closer to hurricane season, currently two weeks away, the Gulf remains quiet. A large high-pressure area is maintaining calm, clear skies.
