According to a new analysis from Investopedia, you'll now need more than $5 million over a lifetime to afford eight key components of The American Dream. Those eight pillars are: retirement, owning a home, raising two children and paying for college, healthcare, buying a new car, yearly vacations, owning pets, and paying for a wedding. Several of these components have outpaced inflation.
