According to investigators, the 62-year-old victim, who has not yet been identified, was driving a white Honda CRV westbound when his vehicle crossed over a raised center median, then the eastbound lanes and struck an iron fence to an apartment complex. Police said the Honda continued through the fence and then struck two parked sport utility vehicles.
Paramedics were called and pronounced the victim dead at the scene, officers said.
Police said it is believed the driver possibly suffered a medical episode, causing him to lose control of the vehicle.
The street was closed in both directions as police worked to clear the scene. Drivers were asked to avoid the area and find an alternate route.
The crash is still under further investigation.
