A day after a water main broke in northwest Houston Thursday morning, flooding parts of the streets, restaurant and business owners are hoping to reopen their doors after a temporary setback.

Crews were seen making repairs to the water main break, but no details have been shared. We're also told several cars and businesses were flooded as a result.

In Kashmere Gardens, residents are comparing their ditches to a river, but it’s not a natural wonder they’re celebrating.

Residents reached out to KPRC 2 via our Help Desk, saying they have sent multiple reports to Houston Public Works, but to no avail.

“Our priority is the safety and well-being of our guests and crew members, and we are prepared to take the necessary precautions to ensure a safe environment,” Space Center Houston said.

Water leaks are the top service request in the city, according to 311. Neighbors living in the Heights said a busted pipe flooded their street.

On Thursday morning, water could be seen gushing from a pipe on Pagewood Lane near South Gessner. A man, riding his bike, took action into his own hands, by turning a valve connected to the pipe, off.

The city of Houston is working overtime to fix more than 1,300 leaks across town.

A water main break has left three schools in the Houston Independent School District without water, a spokesperson for the district said.

HOUSTON – Precinct 6 Harris County constable deputies are investigating what led up to a water main break near downtown Tuesday. Deputies said the water main break happened around 5 a.m. on Hutchins Street near Polk Street. Water main break at Hutchins and Polk that may cause road flooding. It is currently unknown what caused the water main break. Houston police have asked drivers to avoid the area since the water main break may cause flooding.

HOUSTON – A water main break at LBJ Hospital is causing some issues. Officials said there was an issue with an external mainline. LBJ Hospital is under diversion, which means they are not accepting new patients. Ambulances are being diverted to other facilities as crews work to fix the issue. It is unknown how long those repairs may take, but officials said they expect crews will be working through the night.

LEAGUE CITY, Texas – Flooded roads are causing drivers to take different routes after a water main Tuesday afternoon in League City, according to police. Construction workers struck the water main in the 1600 block of West League City Parkway just west of Interstate-45. Officials said there is water on the roads and asked drivers to take precautions when traveling in that area. Workings are currently repairing the line. It is unknown how long those repairs will take.

HOUSTON – Friday Update: The boil water notice that was issued Wednesday for some people in northwest Harris County due to a water main break, has been lifted Friday evening, officials announced in a news release. “The public water system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore the quality of the water distributed by this public water system used for drinking water or human consumption purposes and has provided TCEQ with laboratory test results that indicate that the water no longer requries boiling prior to use as of today,” officials wrote.
