Tropical Depression Gabrielle is finally here, according to the National Hurricane Center, but is forecast to remain over open waters for several days.

The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a trough of low pressure 600 miles east of Bermuda, which has a 70% chance of developing into a tropical depression within two days.

Tropical Depression Lisa has moved into southern Mexico a day after making landfall as a hurricane in the Central American nation of Belize and heading inland over northern Guatemala.

We’ll have a chance to get either or both of the tropical flare ups to make Tropical Depression status the next 24-48 hours although the one in the Gulf better hurry! Circulation from this morning’s NOAA Satellite is pretty evident and you’ll notice a north movement for now:

After Hurricane Delta made landfall Friday evening as a Category 2 storm with winds of 100 mph near Creole, Louisiana, it has continually weakened overnight and through this morning and as of 10am become a depression. Delta weakens to a depression (KPRC)The biggest threat is still rain with 2-4 inches likely along its path with some isolated amounts possible as much as 6-10 inches for the lower Mississippi and Tennessee Valleys. Delta picks up speed toward the northeast (KPRC)WindCameron and Lake Charles, Louisiana, which took a direct hit from Hurricane Laura, stayed on the “clean” side of Delta -- west of the eye. Compared to Laura, Delta is not as strong and not as well-organized. Delta made landfall near Creole Louisiana, only about 12 miles to the east of the track of Hurricane Laura six weeks earlier.

BROOKSIDE VILLAGE, Texas – Sheryl Karolinski was out of town when Tropical Storm Beta struck her Brookside Village home and pushed an estimated three inches of water inside. City hall has served as the hub to push out supplies. With no assistance from the county, state, or federal level the people in Brookside largely have had to help themselves. In Brookside Village, they don’t want to lose anymore. “I believe there’s $295 million for the project to start widening the creek that goes through the city,” said Greg Thomas, a city councilperson.

HOUSTON – Rain is the only thing left of Beta and it is moving through the Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee. This batch of rain will continue to push into the mid-Atlantic states Friday before moving off shore this weekend. HOUSTON – Well, that was fast....Wilfred has formed in the far eastern Atlantic and Alpha formed off the coast of Portugal late this morning! Our Tropical Depression 22 will get the name BETA. If there’s one thing that is not Greek to me, it’s that this will be a slow mover and slow movers drop a lot of rain. And we’ve had our share of storms that get ‘stuck’ between competing high-pressure systems. Effectively, the storm gets stuck, meanders, and eventually gets pushed one way or the other.

HOUSTON – While we haven’t even reached the peak of the 2020 hurricane season, today we welcome to the picture, Tropical Depression # 11 which formed in the Eastern Atlantic this afternoon. The initial reading on the storm is moving west at 16 mph with 35 mph sustained winds. TD 11 is still churning in the AtlanticThe storm’s track from the National Hurricane Center brings it north of the Windward Islands later this week as a tropical storm. Once TD 11 strengthens into a tropical storm, it will be named “JOSEPHINE”.
