At least one person was hit by a train in northwest Houston, authorities are investigating.

The northbound lanes of Galveston Road have been closed off from traffic; drivers are asked to avoid the area or find an alternate route as they work to investigate and clean up the wreckage.

Authorities are picking up pieces of a vehicle left abandoned on the train tracks near the University of Houston - Downtown overnight.
