TODD MISSION, Texas – A woman was fatally shot at the Texas Renaissance Festival campgrounds early Sunday morning, according to the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office. At approximately 2:40 a.m. Sunday, deputies with the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the Texas Renaissance Festival campgrounds in Todd Mission on reports of disturbance. Cimetta and Campbell were acquaintances and traveled to the Renaissance Festival together with friends, according to the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office. The Texas Renaissance Festival released this statement regarding the shooting:An incident occurred at the Texas Renaissance Festival (TRF) Fields of New Market Campground in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 25, 2020. TRF is supporting the investigation, and additional information will be released by the Grimes County Sheriff’s office as details become available.

The annual Texas Renaissance Festival, which takes place in Todd Mission each fall, is set to open this October with new pandemic policies in place, according to event organizers. Ticket sales open Saturday for the festival, which begins Oct. 3 with Oktoberfest and ends Nov. 29 with Celtic Christmas. When the festival grounds open in October, several pandemic policies will be in place to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. All festival staff, performers and vendors will be required to wear face masks throughout the season. If there is a state face mask mandate, patrons will be required to wear face masks.
