Texas City High School has been placed on lockdown as police investigate a reported threat to the school, Texas City Independent School District stated.

John Derrick Taylor, a 55-year-old math teacher and powerlifting coach at Texas City High School, was arrested for allegedly planning to meet a person he thought was a 15-year-old girl for sex, who was actually an undercover detective.

The bus crashed near the outlet mall on Interstate 45.

A student at Texas City High School was taken into custody Monday after the student was found with a loaded gun on campus, district officials said.

HOUSTON – The Texas City High School was evacuated Friday afternoon after it received a tip about a bomb threat, according to the Texas City Independent School District. District officials said they received a tip from Crime Stoppers that it was a “potential bomb threat” at TCHS. The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that a bomb threat was made and deputies investigated the scene. “As a precautionary measure, law enforcement is sweeping the grounds and building,” officials wrote. The school building was cleared shortly before 1 p.m., district officials said.
