A convicted sex offender who was recently released from prison is now back in custody after attempting to meet with an undercover officer posing as a 15-year-old girl.

The case of a 76-year-old man, charged multiple times with child abuse, raises questions about current sex offender registration laws. Despite his charges, the man wasn't required to register, allowing him to reside close to a school.

On May 17, 1996, President Bill Clinton signed legislation requiring law enforcement officials to release information about convicted sex offenders. This became known as Megan’s Law.
