Houston City Council is expected to vote Tuesday on whether to abandon a stretch of Polk Street in downtown — a move that would clear the way for the George R. Brown Convention Center expansion and TxDOT’s I-45 overhaul.
Houston is preparing for a permanent change to how drivers move between Downtown and East Downtown.
If getting around Houston isn’t tough enough already, traffic could get a little bit worse.

HOUSTON – Precinct 6 Harris County constable deputies are investigating what led up to a water main break near downtown Tuesday. Deputies said the water main break happened around 5 a.m. on Hutchins Street near Polk Street. Water main break at Hutchins and Polk that may cause road flooding. It is currently unknown what caused the water main break. Houston police have asked drivers to avoid the area since the water main break may cause flooding.
