HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Two Harris County deputies and one firefighter were hospitalized after responding to an early-morning fire at an apartment complex in North Harris County Saturday, officials said. Harris County deputies and fire crews were dispatched to the burning apartment building, located in the 5100 block of Farm to Market 1960 Road, around 1:30 a.m. On arrival, deputies rushed to evacuate the building while firefighters worked to knock down the blaze. Both deputies have since been released from the hospital and are in good spirits, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. “These guys were going door-to-door knocking and making sure all the residents got out,” said Rachel Neutzler, Communications Director with the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office. Initial reports suggest the fire spread to the apartment complex after a nearby vehicle ignited, Neutzler said.

HOUSTON – Friday is the last day of early voting in Texas and people across Harris County have been heading to the polls. “Nearly 1.4 million registered voters have already come out and made their voices heard in Harris County," Harris County Clerk Chris Hollins said. HOUSTON – Residents were concerned over a stench in the air and murky water at the waterway near a sewage treatment plant in North Harris County, saying the smell is unbearable. However, earlier this week, they received a call from Harris County Pollution Control informing them about the excess sewage coming from the plant’s sewage overflow pipe. Within two hours, the company said, Douglas Utility Company contracted another company to clean it up. Douglas Utility Company representatives said the family inherited the business after the unexpected and tragic death of a family member. Douglas Utility Company said the upgrades are just about complete and residents should not have to worry about any excess sewage.
