CHICAGO – President-elect Joe Biden is considering former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, a substantial and somewhat divisive figure in Democratic Party politics, to serve as his transportation secretary. Progressive leaders, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, have been especially vocal in criticizing the prospect of Emanuel joining the Cabinet. “The administration needs people like Rahm who know how to get things done.”Some of the city’s Black elected officials are also vouching for him. We cannot let up on our social distancing or our responsibility just because the sun is out, the governor said. They act like it's over now.She was at the beach with a friend who is a nurse in a Jersey Shore hospital filled with coronavirus patients. Michael Scott, another 20-something on the Belmar beach, said he and his friends have modified their behavior this summer, including at nightclubs. We are especially concerned after the gatherings we saw at the Jersey Shore, added the state's health commissioner, Judith Persichilli.
