WASHINGTON โ€“ Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is committing at least $100 million to help Joe Biden's presidential campaign in the crucial battleground state of Florida. A victory for Biden in Florida, the largest of the perennial battleground states, would significantly complicate Trump's path to reaching the 270 Electoral College votes needed to secure a second term. The billionaire Bloomberg launched his own campaign for the Democratic nomination late last year amid worries about Biden's strengths. Despite spending $1 billion on his campaign, Bloomberg struggled and dropped out in March, quickly endorsing Biden. Bloomberg's new spending is intended to boost Biden before the start of early voting in Florida, which begins on Sept. 24.

Trump campaign officials have kicked off a review of expenditures, including those authorized by former campaign manager Brad Parscale, who was demoted this summer. But even Parscales internal critics give him credit for helping the Trump campaign construct an unparalleled Republican operation to attract small donors online.

Analysis: Watch the bottom of Texas ballots for political change โ€” not the top

Read full article: Analysis: Watch the bottom of Texas ballots for political change โ€” not the top

Donโ€™t measure the political color of Texas by the wins and losses at the top of the ballot this year. Examples are everywhere: Democrats have won congressional and legislative seats even as the Republicans have swept every statewide election since 1994. The state remained red in 2018, but Texas Democrats increased their congressional and legislative numbers. If the race for U.S. Senate in Texas isnโ€™t really in play, is Texas really in play? The Texas Democrats running for the U.S. House, on the other hand, are ahead.

What happens if no Democratic candidate earns enough delegates for a nomination?

Read full article: What happens if no Democratic candidate earns enough delegates for a nomination?

Even if one candidate has more delegates than the other, thatโ€™s only a โ€œplurality,โ€ not a majority, per party rules. Candidates who earned delegates, but have since dropped out of the race, can try to push their delegates onto another candidate. A candidate needs to earn 2,375 delegates on subsequent ballots to win the nomination.
