Residents of Houston’s South Park neighborhood are rallying against the potential conversion of a vacant property into A possible junkyard, salvage yard or containers facility, citing environmental concerns and quality-of-life issues for the community.

Authorities said a burglary suspect was shot at a Fifth Ward junkyard after he tried to spray paint a security K9 and assault a security officer at the property.
