Galveston’s top doctor wants to give priority boarding on the Galveston-Bolivar ferry to people who have received the COVID-19 vaccine. “We’ll work out a deal with the ferry so that people (who) get vaccinated, get on the ferry first,” said Dr. Philip Keise with the Galveston County Health Authority. Keiser is floating the idea and says they need creative ways like this one to get as many people vaccinated as quickly as possible. BOLIVAR PENINSULA, Texas – It’s a big weekend on Bolivar Peninsula: Jeep Weekend. Jeep Weekend has been a decadeslong tradition on the Peninsula. On Friday, 48 people were arrested on the Bolivar Peninsula, according to Galveston County Sheriff Henry Trouchesset. Last year, the Jeep Weekend ended with more than 600 calls for service and 305 people booked into the Galveston County Jail, with 120 of those arrests coming from the Bolivar Peninsula alone, according to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office. Law enforcement officials are asking for people to keep their cool if they decide to come out.
