A person walks outside Duane Reade by Walgreens in Hell's Kitchen on May 26, 2021 in New York City. Walgreens Boots Alliance said on Thursday that sales rebounded at its stores in its fiscal third-quarter and got a lift from Covid-19 shots, prompting the company to raise its outlook for the year ahead. As pandemic worsens, most US states resist restrictions

Some see little patience among their constituents for more restrictions 10 months into the crisis. And high school officials voted Tuesday to allow winter sports, reversing a decision made four days earlier to cancel the season. Governors in other hot spots, including Texas, have expressed similar sentiments, while other states are loosening restrictions even as the U.S. death toll closes in on 380,000 and cases top 22.7 million. Even in states with strict measures in place, such as California, people are flouting the rules. “I think every time there has been a closure in different states, a lot more influx of different people from different states has come in,” he said.

(AP Photo/Mark Lennihan)NEW YORK On a late Friday afternoon, there is joy and fraternity found on a blocked-off street in Manhattans Hells Kitchen neighborhood. It's Cheers but in Hell's Kitchen," he says referencing the popular 1980s sitcom. Following that, police placed a barricade, on occasion, to block traffic traffic and allow for street mingling.
