HOUSTON – The Houston SPCA confirmed that the dog seen being beaten in a viral video on social media has been found. According to the HSPCA, the dog has been found and is currently their possession. KPRC 2 reported earlier this week on a viral video that showed a Houston woman kicking a dog as onlookers laughed. The woman seen in the video told KPRC 2 that before the recording starts, the animal attacked her 5-year-old son three times. 60 animals were rescued from a pet store in Spring on Wednesday, according to the HSPCA. SPRING, Texas The Houston SPCA and Montgomery County Sheriffs Office and animal control rescued dozens of animals that were living in what authorities described as deplorable conditions inside a Spring pet store. Authorities said 60 animals were rescued Wednesday from the pet store at a strip center off the North Freeway near Briarcrest Drive. The animals were emaciated and underweight, living in very poor conditions without food or water, authorities said. There will be a hearing next week where the animal rescue and protection organization will seek full custody of the rescued animals.

HOUSTON The coronavirus pandemic has caused a huge shift in many peoples circumstances, which has led to a dramatic increase in animal abandonment cases, according to the Houston SPCA. Since mid-March, the HSPCA and multiple law enforcement agencies have investigated 187 abandonment cases 90 of which are still active and, according to Adam Reynolds, Chief of Animal Cruelty at the Houston SPCA, that is about a 20% increase. Just in the past 30 days, 11 animals that were found in deplorable conditions have been rescued, according to the HSPCA. According to the HSPCA, eight dead animals were also found inside the home. Reach out to the Houston SPCA or your local animal shelter rather than leaving an animal to suffer or die.People can report animal cruelty by calling 713-869-7722 or file a report at HoustonSPCA.org.
