A traffic stop turned up stolen mail in west Harris County. Deputies said they found papers, letters and other documents in the trunk of the vehicle. The stop happened at a Metro Park and Ride near Katy Freeway and the Grand Parkway, according to Harris County Sheriffs Office. US Postal inspectors have started a federal investigation. Deputies say the driver was charged with DWI.

A woman and her six-year-old son were injured Saturday morning when their car collided with a cable barrier on Grand Parkway. HARRIS COUNTY, Texas A driver was killed Sunday in a one-vehicle crash on Grand Parkway in Katy, according to the Harris County Sheriffs Office. Around 4:20 a.m., deputies were dispatched to a crash that occurred on W. Grand Pkwy N., near Morton Road. Arriving units located a man, identified as the driver, dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the crash and no one else was injured, according to the Harris County Sheriffs Office. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.

SUGAR LAND, Texas – A section of U.S. 59 Southwest Freeway that was closed Wednesday because of a fatal crash in Sugar Land has reopened. The two-vehicle crash was reported about 7:30 a.m. on the northbound side of U.S. 59. According to Sugar Land police, the crash involved a passenger vehicle and an 18-wheeler. A woman in the passenger vehicle was killed, police said. Officials said all northbound lanes of the Southwest Freeway were closed while investigators were at the scene.

One of the largest, longest-running freeway projects in Greater Houston is the Grand Parkway. It is the outer-most loop around the metro area, with construction that has been ongoing for the past two decades. The project was first conceptualized in the early 1960s. It is divided into eleven segments, the first of which opened on August 31, 1994. That first section, Segment D, extends from the Southwest Freeway to the Katy Freeway on Houston’s southwest side.
