Investigators say a woman, possibly unhoused, was crossing onto the Eastex Freeway onramp going southbound just before Hopper Road when another driver on the feeder but getting on the onramp hit and killed her.

Witnesses told police a group of other men may have chased the pedestrian onto the freeway where they were hit by several vehicles.

A family is grieving the loss of a father and husband after he was fatally struck by a vehicle while helping a stranded driver in north Harris County Tuesday, deputies with Harris County Sheriff’s Office said.
