Shortly after reopening, Apple has once again closed its Houston stores out of precaution as the number of coronavirus cases surge. According to Apple’s website, all seven Houston-area locations are temporarily closed for in-store shopping. HOUSTON – The Tasting Room’s original Uptown Park will close their doors on Saturday, becoming yet another restaurant shutting down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Owner Jerry Lasco said in an email to employees Tuesday that failed rent negotiations and limited revenue are reasons for the shutdown. “In the wake of the pandemic, although we have tried many scenarios, it has not been possible to keep the space running at limited capacity,” said Lasco. The restaurant’s original location opened in 2013 and has provided more than 2,000 meals to hospitality workers impacted by the pandemic, Eater Houston reported. Lasco’s other concept, Max’s Wine Dive and The Tasting Room at CityCentre near Beltway 8 and I-10 will remain open.

HOUSTON – A longtime staple of Houston’s restaurant scene is closing its doors later this month, according to Houston Food Finder. Dolce Vita Pizzeria Enoteca, located at 550 Westheimer in Houston, plans to serve their last pizza on May 24. “I have no idea what the plans are,” he told Houston Food Finder. Dolce Vita’s employees will move to Wiles’ other concepts, DeMarco Cucina E Vino and Vinoteca Poscol, both located on Westheimer, Houston Food Finder reported. Dolce Vita opened in January 2006, known for its neapolitan-style Italian food from artisan pizzas to pastas, their website said.

HOUSTON – Mayor Sylvester Turner says he will continue the practice of limiting access to city-owned park’s parking lots to help control overcrowding for the second weekend in a row. HOUSTON – Home retailer Bed Bath & Beyond announced Wednesday that it plans to close 40 stores during the first half of 2020, including three in the Houston area. Two locations on Highway 6, and one in Meyerland are on the closure list for this year. According to spokesperson Jessica Joyce, the company cited low sales during Thanksgiving, and the shorter holiday shopping season compared to 2018.
