HOUSTON โ€“ Two defendants charged with taking part in the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 made court appearances at the Houston federal building on Thursday. One of the suspects is former Houston police officer Tam Pham while the other is Joshua Lollar, 39, who came to the federal building to post bond. Federal prosecutors accuse Lollar of clashing with capitol police two weeks ago as he made his way into the Capitol building during the riot. Federal agents said Lollar posted photos of himself inside the Capitol and even broadcast a Facebook Live post as he made his way in. On Thursday, Lollar arrived at the federal building, posted a deposit on a 50,000 bond and was fitted with an electronic monitor.

She says, โ€œThere is no mistaking the impact your rhetoric had on the situation, and it is the inflection point for me.โ€Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao tendered her resignation earlier Thursday. News of DeVosโ€™ resignation was first reported by the Wall Street Journal.

To date, Houston has received more than 8,100 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to the mayor. Officials said all of the cityโ€™s COVID-19 vaccine appointments for this weekend have been filled. WASHINGTON โ€“ House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says President Donald Trump should immediately be removed from office or Congress may proceed to impeach him. Pelosi on Thursday joined those calling on the Cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment to force Trump from office. It came a day after a violent mob of Trump supporters stormed the Capitol, forcing the building into lockdown. The 25th Amendment allows for the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet to declare the president unfit for office. The vice president then becomes acting president.
