HOUSTON – Police said they discovered drugs and dozens of shell casings at the scene of what they believe was a deadly “drug deal gone bad” in southwest Houston Monday. Officers said the shooting happened outside of the Ojos Locos Sports Cantina off the Southwest Freeway near Bissonnett around 9:30 p.m. That’s where police found a man shot in the parking lot along, with at least 8-10 lbs. According to investigators, the victim was taken to the Ben Taub Hospital, where he later died. Investigators said 20 to 30 bullet casings were found at the scene, along with bullet holes in a Cricket Store nearby as well as several cars. Officers said there were at least two suspects involved in the incident.

HOUSTON – A suspect is in custody after police said shots were fired on the second floor of the Ben Taub Hospital parking garage Monday. Officers said they were called to the hospital’s parking garage located in the 1500 block of Ben Taub Loop around 1:30 a.m. after a man went to the hospital to check himself in for psychological distress. According to Chief Art Acevedo, the suspect charged at the officer, who then fired his gun at least two times. After the failed attempt, he was taken into custody, Acevedo said. Police said the suspect is in surgery and the officer is on limited duty while the shooting is being investigated.

HOUSTON – Investigators said two people are dead after a driver hit them while trying to get away from Harris County sheriff’s deputies in northwest Harris County Monday. Simon Cheng of HCSO, a deputy saw a Mercedes driven by Alexis Saborit going over the speed limit and tried to stop Saborit. The deputy said Saborit didn’t stop and led the deputy on a chase southbound on Veterans Memorial past the 249 intersection. An @HCSO_D1Patrol DWI unit was involved in a brief pursuit where the suspect went into oncoming traffic at the 9500 block of Veterans Memorial Dr. and struck another vehicle. Once released from the hospital, Saborit will be booked into the county jail charged with two counts of felony murder.

HOUSTON – An inmate who escaped police custody around 7 p.m. Wednesday night at Ben Taub Hospital was captured and back in custody Thursday, according to the Houston Police Department. Officials said the female inmate, Collin Danielle Anderson, 37, was still wearing a hospital gown when she requested to use the restroom. The male officer allowed Anderson to the bathroom, but could not enter the restroom with her, police said. This precaution was shortly lifted after it was determined that Anderson likely left the hospital. Anderson was originally taken into custody on a narcotics possession charge.
