BAYTOWN, Texas – The Baytown Police Department is asking for the public’s help finding a teen wanted in connection with a fatal shooting. Authorities said Keshawn Elam, 18, and his friend Davin Chatman, 18, were outside of a home on Hazel Street around 8:40 p.m. Saturday when an argument broke out. The argument escalated at which point, police said Elam opened fire on Chatman, hitting him several times. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office filed murder charges against Elam and a search is underway. The BPD is asking anyone with information to contact them with any information that may lead to Elam’s arrest.

BAYTOWN – Skylar Gilmore and Isaiah Phillips were relieved to hear that former Baytown police officer Nathaniel Brown was indicted on an assault charge earlier this week. “When he was indicted, I was not happy but I did want him to be treated the same way anybody else would,” said Gilmore. Brown is charged with assault in connection with the June 2 incident outside the Baytown Market. Brown was also relieved of duty by the Baytown Police department after a video of his encounter with Gilmore and Phillips surfaced. BAYTOWN, Texas – A Baytown police officer who was fired after video of an arrest he made went viral has been indicted on an assault charge. Nathaniel Brown is charged with assault in connection with the June 2 arrest outside the Baytown Market. Brown and another officer were attempting to arrest a man after he parked near gas pumps at the store. The video showed one of the officers, later identified as Brown, walk over to some of the friends and confront them. In the video, Brown can be heard telling one of the witnesses that he was under arrest “because you’re cursing in public.” Brown later uses profanity himself.

BAYTOWN, Texas Dozens gathered in Baytown Thursday to peacefully protest the several controversial cases involving the Baytown Police department. You do not have to take anybody to jail because you are intimidated by our skin color, said a protestor. One of the incidents on the minds of many protestors was the May 2019 shooting of 44-year-old Pamela Turner, who was shot three times during an arrest for outstanding warrants. Baytown Police arrested Skylar Gilmore and Isaiah Phillips after they stopped to record a traffic stop involving one of their friends. Gilmore was also charged with interfering with public duties, but that charge has since been dropped by the Harris County District Attorneys office.
