After Hurricane Delta made landfall Friday evening as a Category 2 storm with winds of 100 mph near Creole, Louisiana, it has continually weakened overnight and through this morning and as of 10am become a depression. Delta weakens to a depression (KPRC)The biggest threat is still rain with 2-4 inches likely along its path with some isolated amounts possible as much as 6-10 inches for the lower Mississippi and Tennessee Valleys. Delta picks up speed toward the northeast (KPRC)WindCameron and Lake Charles, Louisiana, which took a direct hit from Hurricane Laura, stayed on the โ€œcleanโ€ side of Delta -- west of the eye. Compared to Laura, Delta is not as strong and not as well-organized. Delta made landfall near Creole Louisiana, only about 12 miles to the east of the track of Hurricane Laura six weeks earlier.

We have a meandering tropical disturbance which most intensity models eventually bring to a Tropical Storm. When those model lines in the below graph go into the light gray area that is tropical storm strength of 39mph to 73mph. Cristobal is the third named storm of this yearโ€™s Atlantic hurricane season. What we knowCristobal made landfall in southern Louisiana just west of Grand Isle Sunday afternoon. The storm continues to move inland producing heavy rain and increasing flooding concerns through the Midwest. Cristobal is moving north into the Midwest as a remnant low bringing heavy rain from Missouri into the Great Lakes. There is a tropical wave in the central Atlantic that has only a 10% chance of development over the next 5 days.

Hurricane season began officially Monday and, right on cue, a possible storm is brewing to our south. Tropical Depression Three formed in the Bay of Campeche on Monday afternoon and the forecast calls for it to strengthen. The next name on the list is Cristobal and right now the storm looks to meander in the Bay of Campeche until the weekend and then move north. storm in the middle of the Gulf by Sunday:Hurricane in the Gulf?? :High Pressure blocks the storm and sends it our wayRegardless of wind, storms like this produce a lot of rain, especially blocked storms that move slowly.
