A man is dead after crashing into a tree in northwest Houston Sunday.

HOUSTON – A 20-year-old man is now charged in the shooting of another man last week in northwest Harris County, police said. The shooting happened at an apartment complex in the 6400 block of Antoine Drive about 11 p.m. on Jan. 8. Rodriguez is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon,The victim, Mario Ponce, 19, was transported to an area hospital in unknown condition. Houston police said officers saw Rodriguez at the scene, “covered in blood.” Police said he ran from officers when they arrived, but he was taken into custody without incident. A gun was located inside an apartment that, based upon evidence at the scene, appeared to be the site of the shooting, police said in a news release.

HOUSTON – A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper fatally shot an armed robbery suspect Friday night in northwest Houston, according to Houston Police Department. The incident occurred around 7:40 p.m.DPS Special Agents were involved in a shooting with an armed robbery suspect near Antoine and Victory in Houston. That’s when the DPS special agent opened fire, killing the man. There’s no ID on the suspect, but HCSO and DPS say he was part of an investigation into several armed robberies in Harris County. The DPS special agent was placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure.
